2nd Call for illustrated albums

This week at Libros de las Malas Compañías (Bad Crowd Company) we have great news, and that is that we have just published the call for entries for the 2nd illustrated album competition La gente también cuenta (People are also important), which this year is about: HOMELESS people are also important. The aim of this competition is to give visibility and raise awareness among citizens about different social realities experienced by people and groups at risk of social exclusion. Last year's winner of the contest People with AUTISM are also important was Charo Pita and Lidia Sarria's illustrated album, "La Carrera" (The Race).

You can find all the information about the competition on our website, but we would like to summarise the most important facts:

This competition is open to everyone, writers and illustrators of legal age who submit their work in Spanish, works composed of text and images or only images based on an original narrative and visual conception.

The prize of this competition is the publication of the illustrated album, which will be part of the La gente también cuenta collection and will be the second title of this collection. The royalties will be 4 % for the author, 4 % for the illustrator and 2 % for the homeless people through the organisation we consider most competent.

The deadline for receipt of works will be from 23 March 2018, the date on which the call for entries will be published, until 23 June 2018. Works must be submitted anonymously.

The jury will be composed of five members: the winners of the previous edition, the editor of Libros de las Malas Compañías and two people from groups working with homeless people.

Selection criteria. The selection of the winning work will be based on the following criteria:

a) The work that best captures and brings up the underlying theme addressed in this edition. In the 2017 edition "HOMELESS people are also important".

b) The best narrative conception text/images.

c) The originality and literary quality of its content.

d) The harmony achieved in the text/image presentation.

The jury's decision will be final and will be made public on 5 July 2018. The presentation of the book will take place on 28 November on the occasion of HOMELESS PEOPLE'S DAY.

We would like to thank you for distributing this call for entries as widely as possible so that it can reach as many people as possible who are interested in participating.

Thank you very much and good luck to all the manuscripts.
