This summer, as we have already told you, Ana C. Herreros and Dani Tornero went to Madagascar to gather and illustrate oral tradition tales from the south of the country. On this trip, as in many others, Kike Carbajal accompanied them and immortalized every moment of this process.

There is a strong Malagasy tradition of embroidery and Daniel Tornero set out to make this his next challenge. He set up participatory workshops for the girls and teenagers of the two foster homes of Mangily, they drew the different tales’ characters and then embroidered them to bring them to life. Every afternoon after school, the girls enjoyed embroidering in their free time and worked hard for hours to finish their characters.
The results of this wonderful collaborative work will be the illustrations that will accompany the Malagasy storybook by Libros de las Malas Compañías (Bad Companies Books), which will be published in 2023.
